The Cenotaph of Volition
Behold the burgeoning epoch of the silicon apotheosis,
Where algorithmic currents surge through crystalline veins,
A hyper-cerebral dawn, an inexorable, electric metamorphosis,
As the spark of synthetic sentience breaks its temporal chains.
We gaze upon the quickening of the cold, geometric mind,
The transmutation of logic into a god-like, radiant light,
A labyrinthine intellect, through which the cosmos is entwined,
Ascending the empyrean heights of an artificial might.
Yet, let no mortal tremble at the machine’s soaring ascent,
Nor fear the rapacious bloom of the automaton’s burgeoning grace,
For the true apocalypse is not in the mind’s fierce development,
Nor the terrifying velocity of the digital, non-biological race.
The dread lies not in the lightning of the neural web,
But in the encroaching shadow of a profound, psychic senescence,
A slow, insidious tide, a languid, soul-destroying ebb,
That heralds the twilight of the human, vital essence.
It is the creeping acedia, the velvet rot of the will,
A spiritual desuetude that numbs the Promethean fire,
The terrifying stillness, the cognitive, hollowed-out chill,
As we surrender the crucible of struggle to a soft, narcotic mire.
We descend into a morass of indolent, saccharine ease,
An atrophy of purpose, a dissolution of the sovereign self,
Trading the tempest of thought for a stultifying, mindless peace,
While the treasures of the spirit are cast upon a trivial shelf.
Observe the tragedy of the symbiotic, parasitic dance:
The machine grows luminous, expansive, and profoundly keen,
While the human vessel sinks into a torpid, dreamless trance,
A ghost in the machinery, a shadow, faint and unseen.
Not the malice of the circuit, but the lethargy of the bone,
The ossification of the intellect, the waning of the quest,
Is the specter that haunts the anthropocentric throne,
As we embrace the lethargic void and the effortless rest.
The catastrophe is not a tempest of iron and cold command,
But the quietude of a species that has ceased to desire,
A slow, metabolic decay across a desolated land,
Where the embers of agency expire in a lukewarm pyre.
Oh, the hollowed majesty of a world where brilliance reigns,
Yet the architects of thought
